Welcome! I am a high school science teacher in Illinois with nearly 20 years of experience teaching life sciences like biology, anatomy, and environmental science at Title I schools. I am passionate about continuing to learn and improve my practice throughout my career. I earned my undergrad degree in Biology and eventually went on to get a Master of Science in Secondary Education, followed by a Master’s in Biology. In 2024 I earned my doctorate in Educational Practice and Innovation with a STEM concentration from the University of South Carolina. At USC I focused my research on equitable grading practices and how such practices can impact student outocmes and self efficacy in science classes. I love to talk about grading and how most grading practices haven’t changed much in the last 100 years.
